Fans must now pay to enter the Socceroos WC ticket ballot
The cost will be $99, but even that doesn't guarantee a ticket.
It's an interesting shift for Football Australia, which has introduced a $99 annual membership tier ahead of the World Cup ticket ballot. There are more than 400,000 people currently signed up to its (free) membership program, and the demand for World Cup tickets - in the $99 tier alone - may exceed Australia's allocation from Fifa.
